Grade 6 Exhibition – Young Changemakers in Action

The Primary Years Programme Exhibition (PYPX) is a proud culmination of the PYP journey—an inquiry-driven showcase where students take on the role of global citizens, ready to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Through independent research, collaboration, and creativity, students explored a variety of global issues linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year, the exhibition spotlighted student-led inquiries into environmental degradation, animal welfare, digital responsibility, and climate advocacy. Under SDG 13: Climate Action, students examined the alarming effects of global warming and changing weather patterns. Their campaigns urged the school community to reduce their carbon footprint, conserve energy, and embrace climate-resilient habits—underscoring the urgency of collective action in combating climate change.

In addressing SDG 14: Life Below Water, students focused on water pollution, shedding light on how plastics, chemicals, and waste disrupt marine ecosystems. Their informative displays and calls to action emphasized ocean conservation, responsible consumption, and community clean-up efforts.

Projects under SDG 15: Life on Land tackled the growing concern over animal abuse and cruelty. With empathy and resolve, students advocated for the ethical treatment of animals and responsible pet ownership. They proposed campaigns to raise awareness, encourage adoption, and prevent neglect, showing deep compassion for all living beings.

Urban and environmental issues also came to the forefront through SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, as students investigated the causes and impact of air pollution. Their work highlighted the consequences of poor air quality on public health and the planet, while offering realistic, eco-friendly solutions such as tree planting, reducing vehicle emissions, and embracing public transportation.

In connection with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, students explored the influence of social media on modern communication and conflict. They analyzed both the positive and negative sides of digital platforms—raising awareness about cyberbullying, online safety, and the need for responsible digital citizenship. These projects called for a more inclusive, respectful, and informed virtual environment.

These young changemakers demonstrated a remarkable ability to think critically, act ethically, and communicate effectively. With strong Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, they exemplified what it means to be principled, reflective, and courageous learners, attributes of an IB Learner. Through the PYPX, the students proved that age is no barrier to advocacy. Their voices rang loud and clear: a better, fairer, and more sustainable world is possible—if we choose to act today.
